Abstract

Single session therapy has been studied for its therapeutic potentials and its interventional possibilities in emergency settings. The complex set of factors that emerge in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic can produce different demands for specialized mental health interventions. In this text, we present the contributions of single session therapy intervention based on the assumptions of narrative therapy. We begin our text with an outline of the complexity that marks different experiences of the pandemic and social isolation. Then, we briefly present the main aspects to be considered in very brief voluntary online psychological assistance in emergencies. In the sequence, we approach the narrative metaphor and structure, purpose and a step by step model of single session narrative therapy. We highlight the importance of building a work agenda to delimit the focus of the intervention, the rich and externalized description of the problem, its effects and its influence on the client's life, the search, recognition and appreciation of alternative narratives and finally the construction of possibilities from the resources identified in the session. We believe that the resources presented can inspire interventions in various situations, especially if considering the possibility of expanding access to psychological care.
