Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the emancipatory effects of a woman's participation in a community project. This is a qualitative research with a single case study that used semi-structured interviews and a map of significant social networks. The participant was a divorced woman with three children who offers husband-for-hire services. Participation in the community project generated emancipatory processes that fostered social inclusion through job and income generation opportunities, which promoted the construction of a significant social network. The mapping of significant social networks indicated the presence of people from the family, the community/community project, friendship and work relationships. Network functions relate emotional support, material help, and cognitive guidance. The results of this research allow the development of critical reflections on the social bonds arising from the participation of a woman in a community project, which enables the development of psychosocial interventions.
